About Brightness Adjuster
Brightness adjustment scales every pixel's channel values: above 100% the image gains light, below 100% it darkens, and 100% is the untouched original. The live preview shows the effect while the slider moves, so the right level is a visual decision rather than a numeric guess.
It is the fastest fix for the two most common exposure problems: indoor photos taken without enough light, and phone shots against strong backlight where the subject turned into a silhouette. Move the slider in small steps to keep detail — pushing far above the original starts clipping highlights, where bright areas flatten to pure white and lose texture for good.
Brightness alone cannot fix a washed-out photo; that needs more separation between shadows and highlights, which is the Contrast Adjuster's job. Both tools export the same JPG, PNG and WebP formats, so their results can be chained in either order.
