About Aspect Ratio Changer
Aspect ratio is the relationship between an image's width and height: 16:9 is wide, 1:1 is square, 4:5 is the tall format feed posts favor. Changing it is not the same as resizing — resizing scales all the content, while a ratio change reshapes the canvas, which always means cropping something away or adding padding somewhere.
This tool offers both strategies. Cover scales the image to fill the new ratio and crops the overflow; Contain fits the whole image inside and pads the rest of the canvas. Presets cover the common targets — 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 and 9:16 — and custom width and height values handle anything else.
Dedicated workflows exist for the two most requested targets: Resize Image to 1:1 for square avatars and listings, and Resize Image to 16:9 for widescreen thumbnails and slides. Use this page when the target ratio is anything else, or when you want both modes side by side.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between cover and contain?
Cover crops the excess to fill the target ratio. Contain pads the background to fit the full image.
Can I use custom ratios?
Yes. Enter any width and height values to create a custom ratio.
Does this resize my image?
Cover may crop pixels to match the ratio. Contain extends the canvas without cropping.
Can I crop an image to 16:9?
Yes. Choose the 16:9 preset and Cover mode. For a dedicated widescreen workflow, use the Resize Image to 16:9 page.
